PreCanSkate is a basic learn to skate program for children who have never been on skates or who are between the ages of 3 to 5 years and cannot yet stand on their own on the ice. This program is designed to give young children a positive first experience on the ice. Skaters learn through creative activities, playing and teaching methods are all designed to be appropriate for this age and skill level. Positive reinforcement and having fun are the two major objectives of this fun filled program. Helmets are mandatory.

This is not a pre-canskate program.  Skaters must have achieved basic skating ability prior to registering in Pre-Power.

Participants will learn and develop skills such as: balance, stopping, turning, power and agility.

Lessons are given in a group format and led by a certified NCCP and CanPower skate coach.

Program Description:

The Advanced Canskate group is an advanced learn to skate program for higher level Canskaters interested in going into Figure Skating. This program is an excellent introduction into the STAR test and Competitive streams. The major difference between Canskate and Advanced Canskate is the additional 1 hour and 15 minutes of ice time per week, more challenging skills, and total ice development exercises. The skaters spend 1 hour on ice (2 days per week) with a Professional Coach. The ice will be shared with Junior Star Skaters offering a look at what advancing will be like. If you are unsure if your child qualifies for this program, please contact the club.

The Skate Canada STAR Skate program offers skaters a chance to take optional tests in freeskate, ice dancing, skating skills and several other areas. Program Description:

Pre-PowerSkate is a program for skaters that focuses on hockey/ringette skills.


This is not a pre-canskate program.  Skaters must have achieved basic skating ability prior to registering in Pre-Power.


Participants will learn and develop skills such as: balance, stopping, turning, power and agility.


Lessons are given in a group format and led by a certified NCCP and CanPower skate coach.


For safety reasons participants should wear full hockey/ ringette equipment that is CSA approved.

Program Description:

PowerSkate

PowerSkate is an action-packed, high energy instructional power skating program geared to hockey and ringette skaters that focuses on balance, power, agility, speed and endurance. Skills, techniques and conditioning drills are taught in a progressive format that emphasizes how the skills apply to game situations. PowerSkate is an excellent complement for those athletes playing hockey or ringette.  Skaters should be able to skate forward, backward and be able to stop.

Full hockey/ringette equipment is mandatory and a Jersey will be provided.
