Carla Matheson
Carla Matheson has spent over 40 wonderful years immersed in the world of figure skating—as a competitor, coach, and judge. She competed at the provincial level in Canada and internationally in the United States, and went on to coach skaters on the Canadian National Team, including one who reached the Olympics while she coached in Sweden.
Carla began coaching as an amateur under the guidance of a head coach, and has since become a Level 3 certified professional, also judging at the Junior Silver level early in her career.
For Carla, the greatest reward is seeing skaters grow, achieve their goals, and experience the joy and freedom of skating. She treasures the opportunities the sport has given her—for personal growth, for celebrating the accomplishments of her skaters, and for lifelong connections with fellow coaches and families. Off the ice, Carla enjoys staying active with Pilates and finds creativity and relaxation in quilting and knitting.
Carla was Proudly inducted into The Prince Albert Sports Hall of Fame in 1991! We are lucky to have her!

Sheila been coaching for 27 years, but her love for skating started at age 5. She competed as a singles skater and spent six years on a synchronized skating team, with a favorite memory of competing at the Saskatchewan Winter Games.
Sheila is a Provincial Coach and Power Skating certified, and what she loves most is seeing skaters land new jumps, master new skills, and gain confidence on the ice. Watching students overcome challenges and discover their own love for skating makes coaching so rewarding.
Outside the rink, She is a proud mom of two—her daughter figure skates and plays competitive soccer, and her son plays competitive hockey. When she isn't coaching, she is usually cheering them on.

Katelyn Jenkins
I have been Regional Coach certified since March 2023 and graduated with my Education degree in December of 2025!!!
I grew up at the rink—if there was ice, I was there, either skating or helping to coach. Coaching played a huge role in helping me realize that teaching was the path I wanted to pursue.
My favourite part of coaching is my skaters. I genuinely look forward to seeing them every day. I feel like an honorary big sister—building relationships, cheering them on, and helping them grow not only as athletes, but as people.
Outside of the rink, I love to travel, spend time outdoors, play sports, and be with family and friends.
One piece of advice that has always stuck with me came from Pat Regel: “Practice doesn’t make perfect—perfect practice makes perfect.” You can practice endlessly, but without intention and proper technique, growth doesn’t happen. That mindset continues to guide how I coach and how I teach.

Carissa Borthwick
I ended my competitive skating career as a Junior Competitor, attending multiple Western Championships and earning my Gold Freeskate, Gold Skills, Senior Silver Dances, and Junior Competitive test. When I retired at 18, I knew I wanted to stay connected to the sport I loved, so I transitioned into coaching.
I am a certified Level 2 Professional Coach and began my career in Swift Current, SK. I later moved to Saskatoon to complete my Bachelor of Education at the University of Saskatchewan while coaching with the Biggar and Warman Figure Skating Clubs. After graduating, I spent nearly 20 years coaching in La Ronge, working with skaters of all ages and levels—from Pre-CanSkate to competitive and adult athletes. Helping skaters grow their skills and confidence has always been the heart of my coaching.
I now teach at École Arthur Pechey School in Prince Albert, SK, and continue to bring that same passion for learning and growth to both the classroom and the rink. I’m thrilled to be part of the Prince Albert Skating Club’s incredible coaching team and look forward to another fantastic season with our amazing skaters!
